OUR WHITBY GUESTHOUSE

Welcome to Bramblewick

Luxury

Bramblewick is located on the West Cliff of Whitby. Ideally situated just a few minutes stroll to both the sandy beach and the central estuary, with the town surrounding it.
Built in 1858 it was one of the earliest houses in the development of the westcliff area catering to the growing demand for holiday homes for the Victorian market of wealthy people looking to holiday by the sea. The house stayed in the same family for over eighty years before it was sold on to begin its life as a guest house in the late 1930’s.

All of Bramblewick’s eight bedrooms and the breakfast room are located to the front of the building benefiting from natural light and views from the top of the property to the Abbey, 199 steps and the sea.

In each of our bedrooms you will find that all of the comfortable beds are made up with superior quality cotton bed linen and each room contains a seating area, has wifi access, a flat screen TV and hair dryer.
The hospitality tray is well stocked with ‘Yorkshire Tea’ as well as a range of herbal teas, coffee, biscuits and sweet treats. All of Bramblewicks’ double rooms contain a mini fridge stocked with fresh milk and bottled water.
In each bathroom we provide ‘Scottish Fine Soap Co’ products along with luxurious feeling fluffy towels.

Privacy is our priority here at Bramblewick. Once you have checked in to your room then it’s your private space for the duration of your stay. We will only enter your room by invitation or in the event of an emergency, but please don’t think that we’ll abandon you. On your arrival you will find in your room an ample supply of linen, toiletries, and refreshments, sufficient for the duration of your stay and if you need any top-ups then just let us know, we’d be happy to oblige.

History

We bought Bramblewick back in August 2018 and have been slowly refurbishing our way through the guesthouse (covid threw us a bit of a curve ball for a while) since then to make our home welcoming for all of our guests. We live onsite and all aspects of the business are managed by the two of us.

We moved to Whitby having sold a hotel in Scotland to be a little closer to family, friends and the sea. Before this we lived and worked in Abu Dhabi and Dubai for seven years. Ant as a food and beverage director for hotels including YAS Island hotel (which hosts the Abu Dhabi grand prix) Atlantis and Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Christine was an Events and Sponsorship Director who oversaw and managed the State visit for Her Majesty the Queen in 2010 and latterly hosting global events for Emirates Airlines.

We love Whitby and spend our wintertime out and about exploring North Yorkshire and beyond. So please feel free to ask us if you are looking for recommendations and we will try to help.
