Food
Fish and Chips
Contentious subject we know, as there are so many great options in Whitby, our favourite is The Magpie due to the large selection of fresh fish available on a daily basis and a great wine/drinks list, or alternatively for takeaway try Royal Fisheries.
If you’ve made it to Robin Hoods Bay either by walking the Cleveland Way or the cinder path the Fishbox is a good pit stop for refuelling.
Restaurants
Ditto is fabulous but this is a small restaurant so you need to book way in advance due to its sheer popularity. Pizza West is located on the west cliff so an easy stroll for great Pizza and cocktails if the mood takes you. Kam Thai, located next to the NYMR station, offers a great selection if you are looking for something to tickle your ‘taste-buds’. Just outside of Whitby in Sandsend, the Fish Cottage offers a range of contemporary and traditional fish dishes to eat inside or in the large garden (weather permitting) or alternatively take-away, ideal to walk across the road and sit on the beach enjoying the view.
Drink
Pubs & Places to Drink
The Granby is a great hostelry for food and drink and has consistently looked after our guests ever since we’ve been here and probably before. The Arch and Abbey for a great selection of regional beers, ciders and gin. The Little Angel has a great outdoor space for sunny days and a big screen for sporting events. The Whitby brewery is a must visit watering hole on a sunny day after a stroll along the Cleveland Way.
Coffee
Clara’s at the top of our road offers great views over the sea and watching the world go by whilst enjoying a coffee or ice cream. Also a newish addition to the harbour area, right next to the swing bridge on the west side is Hope and Beans, which serves great coffee and delicious sweet treats.
